Common Gynecology Problems
Abnormal Bleeding
By definition any vaginal bleeding that occurs at
the wrong time is abnormal but women are also often
troubled because the nature of their bleeding has
changed such that it is a different colour or has a
different odour from normal or is much heavier and
contains clots. Some women will complain that their
periods are becoming lighter or have been missed.
Please see an Apollo Bangalore Gynecologist if you are experiencing
abnormal bleeding problems.
Ovarian Cysts
Generally speaking, the term "cyst" refers to a
growth that is filled with fluid. Ovarian cysts are
extremely common and usually not serious. The vast
majority discovered during pelvic examination or on
ultrasound in premenopausal women will resolve if
they are left alone. Most are "functional" cysts
that are the result of normal ovulatory function.
Nonetheless, it's advisable to see an Apollo
Bangalore Gynecologist
to rule our any serious problems.
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
PCOS is also known as hyperandrogenic chronic
anovulation. It may manifest itself in many
different ways but is characterized by irregular
ovulation and menses, obesity, insulin resistance,
acne, and excessive hair growth. In addition,
vaginal ultrasound of the pelvis shows large ovaries
with multiple cysts round their outer edge and a
dense core. Please see an Apollo Bangalore Gynaecologist if you
experience these symptoms.
Vaginal Discharge
It is normal for women to have a small amount of
vaginal discharge which will vary both in amount and
appearance during different parts of the menstrual
cycle. You should only become concerned if the
discharge becomes heavier, changes colour, is itchy
or has an unpleasant odour. This may be associated
with infection so make sure you see a qualified Gynecologist. You may need to take antibiotics.
This is very important as an untreated infection may
damage your tubes which might cause you to have an
ectopic pregnancy or even make you infertile in the
future. Please see an Apollo Bangalore Gynaecologist if you
experience these symptoms.
