I take a multi-mega-vitamin-mineral supplement. Should one stop taking it for periods of time (a "holiday") or should one take them every day? Are there particular vitamins or minerals that one should take a holiday from. I once read that one should take a week or two holiday from calcium supplements I think once a year. Is this true? Are there other such supplements?

You shouldn't have to take any breaks or vacations from your supplements.  While it is true that the fat-soluble vitamins do build up in your body (Vitamins A,D,E & K), I don't know of a multi-tab which will dose you high enough to reach toxic levels.  Calcium should pose no problem, other than constipation if taken in too high a dose.

Check the label and see if the calcium is in a "-carbonate"  form.  If so, then you are probably not absorbing much anyhow.
